Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel Participates in Earth Hour

The Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel was among businesses across the world that participated in Earth Hour, a worldwide environmental grassroots movement, held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Earth Hour is a grassroots environmental initiative that began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia and is now practiced in over 180 countries worldwide.

During the event, KBH participated in a variety of ways:

• Tiki Terrace Restaurant closed at 8:30 p.m. Lights were dimmed for patrons still dining, and musicians finished playing at 8:30 p.m.
• The television at the Tiki Bar was turned off from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
• Front Desk lights were dimmed from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m.
• Guests were invited to participate by turning off their electricity in their guest room and going down to the grassy area fronting Hale Hema for a Star Gazing activity by Maleko (alakaʻi at Hale Huakaʻi and crew member of Hōkūleʻa and Hikianalia, Polynesian Voyaging Society) which was held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
