Maui Gas Prices on the Rise
Maui gas prices in Kahului and Wailuku averaged $3.69 for regular. That’s six cents higher than last Thursday, 13 cents higher than last month and 26 cents lower than a year ago.
Gas prices increased throughout the islands by a nickel a gallon or more in the past week, according to the AAA Hawaiʻi Weekend Gas Watch.
Today’s statewide average price is $3.49 a gallon, which is seven cents higher than last Thursday, 20 cents higher than a month ago and three cents less than a year ago, according to AAA.
“The Energy Information Administration’s weekly report showed that western United States gasoline stocks fell by 200,000 barrels from the previous week and now sit at 31.1 million barrels,” said Liane Sumida, AAA Hawaiʻi general manager. “Gasoline stocks have been steadily decreasing, and oil prices have been increasing, since February causing higher prices at the pump that may continue up in the coming weeks.”
In Honolulu, today’s average price for regular is $3.37, which is nine cents higher than last Thursday, 26 cents higher than on this date a month ago and two cents higher than on this date last year.
The Hilo average price is $3.56, which is up five cents from last Thursday, 15 cents higher than on this date last month and two cents lower than on this date a year ago.
Līhue’s average price for regular is $3.67, which is five cents higher than last Thursday, 17 cents higher than on this date last month and three cents higher than a year ago today.
