The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the precautionary landing of a small Cessna plane in Puʻunēnē earlier this month.

FAA spokesperson Ian Gregor tells Maui Now that the pilot of a single-engine Cessna 172 plane reported fuel issues before landing at around 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

The Maui Raceway Park issued a statement on their Facebook page this morning saying they believe the plane landed on the access road between the RC airfield and motorcross track. According to the post, track officials observed the plane being removed via flatbed truck from the rear area of Maui Motorsports Park.
