Maui Stroke Awareness Community Health Fair, May 2

Maui Health System hosts their annual Stroke Awareness Event, a community health fair celebrating National Stroke Awareness Month, on Thursday, May 2, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

The event is free and open to the public and will include informational booths with hands-on activities, entertainment by Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner Cody Pueo Pata, food and refreshments, photo booth, prizes and more.

Special guest speakers from the Maui medical community will also lend their expertise, discussing topics around the event theme, “Stroke: Preventable, Treatable, Beatable.”

4 to 5 p.m. Community Health Fair – Courtyard

Over 20 exhibitor booths featuring various local businesses and community partners
Keiki Zumba
Complimentary food and refreshments
Award-winning entertainment with Cody Pueo Pata
Photo booth and enter-to-win prize drawings

5 to 6:30 p.m. Education for Patients and Families – Auditorium

Maui Memorial Medical Center was recently recognized by the American Heart Association in US News & World Report’s 2019 Best Hospitals issue for leading the state in Heart and Stroke Quality Achievement Awards. Maui Memorial Medical Center earned the highly-distinguished Gold Plus Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll and Gold Plus Target: Stroke Honor Roll from American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines program.

MMMC was the only hospital in the state of Hawaiʻi to achieve the 2018 Heart Failure Honor Roll and was recognized with just 16 other hospitals in the entire Western Region for receiving this prestigious award. The Western Region includes 10 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaiʻi, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. 2018 marked the 10th year that MMMC has been recognized with a quality achievement award for heart failure and stroke care.
