40 Players Compete in Maui Pickleball Tournament

Forty players participated in the Maui Pickleball Tournament held on May 25, 2019, at Eddie Tam Gym and two private courts.

Divisions in the tournament were 4.0 Mixed, 3.5 Mixed, 3.5 Senior Men, 3.5 Women and 2.5-3.0 Mixed.

During the round robin format, each player’s points earned were totaled and the top four from each division advanced to the final round.

The bottom four played for a consolation match.

Medals were handed out to the top four scores in each division.

“It was a fun event with loads of pickleball players and fans cheering in the bleachers at Eddie Tam Gym,” said Laurie Loney, of Pickleball Maui.

Sharina Asato Husted coordinated the tournament with the help of Loney.

Todd Kawasaki donated the wooden carved medals for the winners.
