A community meeting is planned next week to discuss a pending emergency repair project on the Kahekili Highway.

The project is to repair a culvert headwall just south of the Maluhia Country Estates subdivision. The headwall was damaged during a storm in February.

Because of the highway’s narrow width, county officials say complete closure of the road during daytime working hours will be necessary. Construction to repair the headwall will involve daytime road closures on weekdays.

The meeting will be held next Thursday, June 13 at 6 p.m. at the Waiheʻe Elementary School cafeteria.

County officials say a review of preliminary plans is ongoing, and public input is being sought to assist with the planning process. A start date for the project has yet to be determined.
