Goodfellow Bros. LLC has been contracted to dredge the entrance channel of the Kīhei Boat Ramp this summer.

The project is scheduled to begin on July 1 and has an estimated completion date of Nov. 4, 2019.

According to the state Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation (DOBOR), the contract with Goodfellow was set up so that there will be no closures while work is being performed. Contractors will open and close the silt curtains whenever operators ingress/egress the boat ramp.

Work will include dredging the turning basin and portion of the entrance channel to a depth of 6 feet below the mean lower low water level. An estimated 4,500 cubic yards of dredged material will be stockpiled at the gravel parking lot area above the trailer parking lot and any beach quality sand dredged will be used for future beach nourishment projects.
