Wailuku Man Charged with Attempted Murder in North Market Shooting

A 57-year-old Wailuku man was charged with second degree attempted murder after allegedly firing a handgun at his neighbor Friday evening.

Frank Solimondi Coricelli was also charged with first degree Terroristic Threatening, first degree Burglary, use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, three counts of Possession of Prohibited Weapons, two counts of Reckless Endangering and for allegedly not registering his firearm. Coricelli is being held in lieu of $636,000 bail.

Police said on Friday that at 5:11 p.m. officers responded to an incident at 151 North Market Street regarding an argument between neighbors. One of the neighbors “fired shots from a handgun directed at an immediate neighboring unit” according to MPD Public Information Officer Lt. Gregg Okamoto.

The suspect then drove off in his vehicle but then later returned to the scene and was arrested by officers. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Coricelli was cited for hunting with a prohibited weapon in 2016 and had to pay a $500 fine. He is scheduled for a court hearing on Tuesday.
