The conference had originally been scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 7, at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College, Molokaʻi campus. About 20 workshop instructors and support staff were planning to travel to the island from Maui and Oʻahu along with a speaker from Hawaiʻi Island.

“Safety was our primary concern, and in an abundance of caution, we decided to cancel the conference and look at rescheduling it later this year or early next year,” said Kay Fukumoto, Director of the Office of Economic Development. “We also were concerned for the safety of conference organizers and participants, considering the track of the storm is uncertain and storm conditions could persist on Molokaʻi.

“Future conference dates are contingent on availability of college facilities, but our office will be working diligently to reschedule this opportunity for our Molokai community.”
