Brush Fire Reported Off Veterans Highway

Update: 3:41 p.m. 9.11.2019

Fire officials say crews are mopping up the blaze now and should be finished “in about 15 minutes.”

The cause and size of the fire has not yet been determined.

Fire crews are responding to multiple reports of a brush fire on the Haleakalā side of Maui Veterans Highway.

Officials say the blaze is located between the Central Maui Baseyard and the Puʻunēnē sugar mill and is “half a football field in size.”

The fire was seen located away from public roads along an old sugar cane field road.

The Maui County Fire Departmentʻs Engine 10 and Tanker 10 are en route.
