In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, The Shops at Wailea is trying to figure out which one of its restaurants makes the best burger.

The shops will host its first “Wailea Burger Battle” on Sept. 18 from 2:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Main Fountain Courtyard.

“We’re always striving to create engaging events and fun activities for everyone’s enjoyment, especially when it comes to showcasing our diverse culinary offerings,” The Shops at Wailea vice president Diana Whitt said in a press release.

All entries will be prepared immediately prior to the competition period, with each competitor presenting their cheeseburger in a non-identifiable “to-go” box for blind judging.

Lineage Maui, Tommy Bahama, The Pint & Cork, Cheeseburger Island Style, Longhi’s Wailea, and Island Gourmet Market will all participate in the competition.

The judging panel of local foodies includes Carla Tracy, Honolulu Star Advertiser’s Maui dining and entertainment columnist, Becky Speere, dining editor of Maui Nō Ka ‘Oi magazine, and Rod Antone, Digital Content Manager at Pacific Media Group.

The winner will receive a team trophy, framed team picture, and well-earned bragging rights as purveyors of the best burger at the shops.
