A high surf advisory was issued for the south facing shores of all islands within Maui County, in effect from 6 a.m. today through 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2019.

The public can expect high surf to affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.

The National Weather Service forecasts surf heights of 5 to 9 feet today through Friday.  Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.

Strong breaking waves, shore break and strong long-shore rip currents will make swimming difficult and dangerous.  As a precaution, beach goers, swimmers and surfers should heed the advice of Ocean Safety officials and exercise caution.
