Man Charged with Terroristic Threatening for Machete Incident on Kahekili Highway

A 37-year-old man was arrested for terroristic threatening following an altercation involving a machete on the Kahekili Highway in Waiheʻe on Wednesday night.

Officers from the Wailuku Patrol Division responded to a report of the Disorderly Conduct incident at 9:38 p.m. on Oct. 2, 2019.

Callers reported the 37-year-old male offender, was allegedly involved in verbal altercation with a 38-year-old male victim while on the highway near Mile 5.5.

During this altercation, police say the offender reportedly punched the male victim once while he was seated within his vehicle. Police say the offender allegedly reached into the vehicle and placed a machete at the male victim’s neck.

The man was arrested for first degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and first degree terroristic threatening and was charged for both offenses. He was able to post $2,000 bail.
