Flash Flood Watch Issued for Maui County
Maui County is under a flash flood watch until Monday afternoon, the National Weather Service announced this morning.
According to the agency, a flash flood watch means that weather conditions may develop that lead to flooding.
A trough of low pressure is expected to linger across the island chain today through Monday, while an upper level low moves overhead. This will produce very unstable conditions across the state, bringing the potential for periods of heavy rainfall and flash flooding.
The county is asking campers and hikers to reschedule their outing for more favorable weather.
“Remember, it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for flash flooding to occur,” an announcement from the county read.
