Burglars Ram SUV into Kahului Pawn Shop, Steal $34K in Jewelry

Maui police are searching for the suspects in a smash and grab at the Central Maui Gold and Loan.

The pawn shop owners posted a surveillance video on Facebook that captures an SUV ramming into the storeʻs entrance at about 11:30 on Sunday night.

After failing to break down the security barrier behind the glass door multiple times, the two suspects then exited the vehicle, smashed numerous displays, and stole an estimated $34,000 in jewelry items.

Both suspects fled the scene, leaving the SUV parked in the store.

Property damages are estimated at $15,000.

After reviewing the surveillance footage, investigators were able to isolate images of the two offenders.

The store owners claimed to know one of the suspects in the caption accompanying the video.

Anyone with information on the identity of these offenders are urged to contact Detective Jonathan Acosta at 244-6441.

This investigation is ongoing.
