Beachfest2020 presented by Positively+Kai and Pā‘ia Youth & Cultural Center
The 23rd Annual Pā‘ia Bay Beachfest, Beachfest2020, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 25 and 26, 2020. The fun and family-friendly event showcases Maui’s young bodyboarders and surfers. The first heat starts at 8 a.m., following the event blessing ceremony.
All Beachfest registration will be done online only, and there will be no beach entry this year. As part of this change, registration is available from Dec. 1, 2019 through Jan. 23, 2020. This also means that families and spectators can follow the scores live and view the heats and schedule in advance.
The entry fee is $30, and $10 per additional division. Competitors are treated to a plate lunch prepared by the youth of the PYCC Pā‘ia Bay Café program, and will also receive a collectible tee-shirt and sponsor swag-bag.
Beachfest is presented by Positively+KAI (Kai Lenny) with Marlon Tumacder, PYCC alumni and staff, and community-minded individuals and businesses.
Divisions include Menehune, Juniors, Wahine, Kane, Drop Knee and Maui’s only Soft-Top Surfing. Additionally, there will be a cash-prize Pro/Am division for all ages, and expression-sessions for surfers throughout the weekend.
Beachfest features special guests, emcees, and judges, including world-champion waterman Kai Lenny, and plenty of fun surprises. Food, music, and prizes will be followed by an awards ceremony and live music by PYCC alumni T-Flatz and the Plantation Kids on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 4 p.m.

This is an alcohol, drug and tobacco free event.
The Pā‘ia Youth & Cultural Center has provided services to Maui County since 1993 in an effort to realize it’s mission, “Building Community Through Our Youth.” Programs are guided by traditional Hawaiian values.
The Pā‘ia Youth Council, Inc., which operates the Pā‘ia Youth & Cultural Center, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation funded by grants from the Maui County Department of Housing & Human Concerns, the State of Hawai‘i Office of Youth Services, private foundations, community donations and fundraisers.
