Visitors throughout Maui County spent $377.1 million in October, about 1 percent less than the year before, the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority announced Wednesday.
About 11 percent more visitors came to Maui compared to last year, but visitors’ daily spending dropped 8 percent.
Over 800,000 tourists came to Hawaiʻi in October, a 5 percent increase from last year.
Statewide, tourists spent a total of $1.33 billion throughout the month, about 1 percent more than last year.
Visitor spending includes lodging, inter-island airfare, shopping, food, car rental and other expenses while in Hawaiʻi.
According to the HTA, tourism dollars from the Transient Accommodations Tax helped fund multiple community events statewide during October, including the Maui Marathon, Hawaiʻi Food and Wine Festival, Kauaʻi Chocolate and Coffee Festival, and Honolulu Pride Parade and Festival.
