Architects are being sought for five positions, two regular positions and three alternates, on the Urban Design Review Board.

For the regular positions, one needs to be an architect and the other a land architect. For the three alternates, two architects and one land architect are needed on the board. The panel has specific qualification requirements for some of its members.

“I appreciate the willingness of all of those who serve voluntarily on our boards, commissions and other Maui County panels,” Mayor Michael Victorino said. “In this case, I’m asking architects to step forward and help serve on the Urban Design Review Board.”

Responsibilities include hearing public testimony, reviewing policies and standards. Panel members make recommendations and decisions that impact Maui County. Positions are appointed by the Mayor, confirmed by the Maui County Council and have terms lasting two to five years. While no monetary compensation is provided for serving on the board, the public’s participation helps provide an important government service. Volunteers are reimbursed for allowable travel expenses.
