The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the island of Molokaʻi, in effect until 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, 2020.

A Flood Advisory means that nuisance flooding is occurring or imminent. The Flood Advisory may be upgraded to a Flash Flood Warning if flooding worsens and poses a threat to life and property.

At 10 a.m., radar showed “waves of moderate to heavy showers” moving over Molokaʻi from the northwest, producing very low visibility.

“Although individual showers are not remaining over any one area for a prolonged period of time, showers are repeatedly moving ashore,” the NWS advisory said.

The public is reminded to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Motorists and pedestrians are reminded never to cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot. “Turn around. Don’t drown,” the NWS advises.
