The Kalana O Maui Building is lit up in blue in honor of EMS Week and first responders. PC: County of Maui.

Blue lights illuminated the county’s Kalana O Maui Building last night in recognition of National Emergency Medical Services Week, May 17-23, 2020.

“Our community relies on emergency medical service personnel and our first responders to come to our aid in life-or-death situations, often putting themselves in harm’s way,” said Maui Mayor Michael Victorino. “They have been the backbone of our defense against the coronavirus pandemic, and they our frontline healthcare heroes. So if you see a police officer, a firefighter, a doctor, nurse or emergency medical technician, please say ‘thank you’ for all you do.”

The tribute lasted for three hours from 7 to 10 p.m.
