Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Centers, Inc., Maui’s largest homeless shelter provider, today announced that it has received a $5 million dollar grant from the Bezos Day 1 Families Fund—the largest private gift in the organization’s history.

“Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sanchez, and Shep Gordon stopped by for a tour of the Food Bank,” said Marlene Rice, Development Director at the Maui Food Bank. “It was wonderful to meet Jeff, and we are very grateful for the generosity he has extended to Maui Food Bank and other nonprofits on Maui.”

Amazon founder and executive chairman, Jeff Bezos reportedly purchased a remote 14-acre oceanfront estate  – 12 miles south of Kīhei – the property surrounded by rocky lava fields and state parkland. 

The Maui Food Bank is the latest organization to announce receipt of a “significant personal donation” from Amazon Founder, Jeff Bezos.

Grow Some Good will use the funds to increase the impact of their Farm to School Program and further develop their Community Food Systems Program.

Habitat for Humanity Maui is the latest nonprofit on Maui to receive a “generous personal donation” from Amazon Founder and Executive Chair Jeff Bezos.

Amazon founder and Executive Chair, Jeff Bezos has made two more personal donations to nonprofits on Maui, bringing the growing list of philanthropy on Maui for the e-commerce executive to four.  Today’s announcements include monetary donations of unspecified amounts to the Hawaiʻi Land Trust and the Mālama Family Recovery Center.

The Maui Farm announced it recently received a generous gift from Amazon founder and Executive Chair Jeff Bezos.  The amount was not disclosed. This is the second such gift announced recently by a Maui nonprofit from the e-commerce executive.
