Hawaiʻi launches statewide pre-eviction mediation filing program
This week Thursday marks the launch of a new statewide Pre-Eviction Mediation Filing Program. The two-year pilot requires landlords to participate in mediation before filing residential eviction cases involving non-payment of rent.
Council committee to review eviction mediation, human trafficking prevention
The Maui County Council Water Authority, Social Services and Parks Committee will receive updates on eviction mediation and discuss prevention measures for child abuse and human trafficking. The panel will convene at 9 a.m. Monday in the Council Chambers in Wailuku.
Event on Saturday addresses the looming expiration of Maui’s eviction moratorium
Gov. Josh Green’s eviction moratorium for Maui will expire on Feb. 4, 2025. To provide information and answer questions about what this means for renters and landlords, the State and Maui Mediation Services will hold an event this Saturday, Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cameron Center in Wailuku.
