Bezos Day One Fund Gifts $2.5 Million to Family Life Center in Kahului, Maui

Family Life Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization serving the homeless population on the islands of Maui, Molokaʻi and on Kauaʻi, has been selected to receive a $2.5 million grant from the Bezos Day One Families Fund—the largest grant in Family Life Center’s history.

Maui Homeless Offered One-Way Plane Tickets to Mainland

The Hawaiʻi Lodging and Tourism Association will present a $25,000 check to Kahului’s Family Life Center as part of its initial neighbor island funding to send 120 homeless individuals on Maui to locations outside of Hawaiʻi.

Homeless Count on Maui Increases 12% to 1,137 Individuals

The 2015 Statewide Point in Time Count shows a 12% increase in the homeless population on Maui, up 178 individuals from the 959 homeless reported in 2014.

Program to Distribute 750 Backpacks to Maui Homeless

A philanthropic organization based in Chicago, Illinois, will visit Maui to distribute some 750 backpacks to hundreds of homeless individuals on the island.
