Potential heavy rainfall, flooding back in Hawaiʻi forecast

Increased moisture will bring periods of heavy rain and a risk of flash flooding to the entire state by the end of this week and possibly into the weekend, with the most likely period of significant impacts during a period from Wednesday night, April 8, through early Friday, April 10.

Hawaiian Electric monitoring wildfire risk conditions

Hawaiian Electric is monitoring weather conditions that may lead to an increased risk of wildfires. If needed to protect public safety, Hawaiian Electric may implement its Public Safety Power Shutoff program to proactively shut off power in communities with high exposure to wildfire risk.

Potential inclement weather in the forecast through Wednesday

Locally heavy rain and a slight chance of thunderstorms is forecast through Friday. A new storm system could bring another chance for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms to the islands Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the NWS.

But there is some uncertainty in the forecast early next week because of the possibility of a tropical disturbance forming and passing just south of the state that could bring heavier showers depending on how close it gets.
