Both the Sabers in Division I and the Pine Lasses in Division II will bring back nearly the same squads that have led them to consecutive Maui Interscholastic League titles in recent years.

With high school surfing becoming an official state sport in Hawaiʻi this spring, coaches are required to take safety clinics that include a long swim, CPR and first aid.

Now, Na Ali’i are headed back to the Hele/HHSAA boys Division I state tournament as MIL champions for first time since their state title run four years ago.

The first state high school surfing tournament will take place next year at Ho’okipa Beach Park, a nod to the three-decade effort of Maui’s Kim Ball to finally make the official state sport of Hawai’i also a state high school sport.

Hisaka is among 11 individuals selected nationwide for the honor, which is the highest recognition for those involved in high school sports.

In anticipation of the imminent threat of heavy rain and high winds, the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association (HHSAA) has announced the relocation of all eight quarterfinal matches of the HHSAA Division I and II Girls Soccer State Championships to playing fields with artificial turf. This decision was made today to allow teams ample time to adjust their travel and logistical plans.

Three Seabury Hall student-athletes national letters of intent to play college sports. They are: Victoria Osborn, Women’s Soccer at Metropolitan State University Denver; Trey Cerizo, Men’s Soccer at Cal Poly Humboldt; and Tyler Loree, Men’s Golf at UCLA. 

The state Department of Education and the Hawaiʻi High School State Athletic Association have announced, for the first time in nearly 20 years, there will be a new sport for high school girls to compete in. Beginning in Spring 2025, girls flag football will be in public and private high schools across the state.

In the First Hawaiian Bank/HHSAA Football State Championships doubleheader on Dec. 23, #1 Lahainaluna High School will play will #2 ‘Iolani School in the Division I title football game at 3 p.m, followed by #2 Saint Louis and #1 Kahuku at 7 p.m. in the Division I‐Open championship.

The Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association welcomes the return of state championships in almost two years. However, due to state, county, and facility COVID-19 restrictions, fan regulations will be enforced.

The Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association executive board unanimously approved a modified calendar calling for state tournaments in every sport.

Up to 15 scholarships valued at $5,000 each will be awarded to high school seniors graduating in 2021.

The Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association and its member leagues announced today a decision to cancel the remainder of the 2020 spring interscholastic sports season due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health threat.

The Maui High School baseball team rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday to beat Campbell 6-4 in semifinal action of the 2017 Wally Yonamine Foundation Division I State Baseball Tournament at Les Murakami Stadium on Oahu.
