VIDEO: Explosion at Kīlauea Volcano’s Halemaʻumaʻu Lava Lake
A rockfall from the southeast wall of the crater initiated the explosion, sending “large clots of molten splatter up to two meters across” in the vicinity of the closed visitor overlook fence.
