The projects at Lahainaluna on-campus gym, and the county-owned Lahaina Civic Center and War Memorial Gymnasium, have made it difficult for sports teams to practice at the youth and adult levels.

The championship game of the Maui Invitational college basketball tournament takes place today at the Lahaina Civic Center. No. 4 Auburn takes on the University of Memphis at noon HST. The came will be carried on ESPN. Today’s games will also be carried on local radio via ESPN Maui | AM 900 | FM 102.5.

The Maui Invitational has seen several dramatic games in the first two days of its return to the Lahaina Civic Center for first time since 2022. The championship game today at noon pits No. 4 Auburn against the University of Memphis.

The 40th Maui Invitational tipped off at the Lahaina Civic Center on Monday, marking its return to the Valley Isle following the August 2023 wildfires. The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation reminds travelers to give themselves extra time at the airport this Thanksgiving holiday season in anticipation of increased passengers and limited parking at Hawai‘i’s five busiest airports. The Kahului Airport may also see an increase in travelers due to the Maui Invitational, which runs Nov. 25 through 27 at the Lahaina Civic Center.

Day 2 of the Lahaina Festival takes place today (Nov. 25) with a pop-up mākeke featuring dozens of vendors from 3 to 9 p.m.; and entertainment tonight with Kulāiwi at 6 p.m., and Kalani Pe‘a featuring Hālau Ke‘alakahinano o Puna at 7 p.m.  The event is presented by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, in partnership with the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and the Hawai‘i Community Foundation at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows.  The celebration of music, culture, and community supports Maui’s resilient spirit and coincides with the Maui Invitational college basketball tournament.

The Maui Invitational has been away from the Lahaina Civic Center for three of the past four years. It returns with an impressive field next week.

The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement (CNHA), in partnership with the Hawai‘i Tourism Authority and the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, proudly presents Lahaina Festival —a three-day celebration of music, culture, and community support for Maui’s resilient spirit. This free event, open to the public, will take place from Sunday, Nov. 24 to Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024, at the Royal Lahaina Resort & Bungalows, coinciding with the prestigious Maui Invitational college basketball tournament.

The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority is continuing its work to stabilize travel demand to the Hawaiian Islands through strategic global marketing, while also ensuring tourism’s benefits flow to communities. As part of this focused effort, HTA is furthering its partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association through the LOTTE Championship presented by Hoakalei being held this week on Oʻahu.

The 2024 Maui Invitational college basketball tournament celebrates its 40th anniversary by returning to the historic Lahaina Civic Center on Maui, Nov. 25-27, 2024. This marks the tournament’s return to Maui for the first time since the 2023 wildfires. Last year’s event was held on Oʻahu.

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational announced that the 2024 tournament will return to the island of Maui after the wildfires on Maui caused a move of the tournament to Honolulu in 2023. The 41st annual tournament will return to the historic Lahaina Civic Center Nov. 25-27, 2024, and include five of the current top-20 teams in college basketball.

In 2024, HTA is partnering to provide more than $7.5 million in total funding to support 163 nonprofit organizations, community groups, practitioners, projects and events throughout the state.

The Allstate Maui Invitational, the nation’s early-season college basketball tournament, KemperSports, and the college basketball community have rallied to raise $1.7 million for Maui wildfire relief and recovery efforts. 

Ten of the Top 50 players competing in the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational have been named to Jersey Mike’s Naismith Men’s Player of the Year Watch List.

All Tournament ticket-only packages and limited booster ticket-only packages for the 2023 Maui Invitational are now officially on sale and can be purchased online.

This year’s Maui Invitational will shift to the island of Oʻahu while its traditional home court – the Lahaina Civic Center – continues to serve as a critical hub for Maui wildfire recovery efforts. The 2023 Tournament will take place at the Stan Sheriff Center on the campus of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa from Nov. 20 to 22. 

The Hawai‘i Tourism Authority Board of Directors took decisive action at its monthly board meeting Thursday to approve $2.6 million in funding to launch the Maui Marketing Recovery Plan. The plan is centered around a new Mālama Maui campaign and prioritizes rebuilding travel demand from the United States market to Maui in the wake of the devastating Lahaina wildfires.

The official bracket for the 2023 Maui Jim Maui Invitational college basketball tournament has been released. This year marks the event’s 40th anniversary, and takes place Nov. 20-22, 2023 at the Lahaina Civic Center on Maui.

The final games of the 2022 Maui Jim Maui Invitational basketball tournament take place today at the Lahaina Civic Center in West Maui.

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational tip-off festivities take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24 for four events: the Hoops Clinic presented by HMSA, the Maui Jim Maui Golf Classic, the HMSA Sun, Surf and Hoops 5K, and An Evening with the Coaches Banquet hosted by ESPN’s Jay Bilas.
