This month’s Kīhei 4th Friday Town Party will take place at Azeka Shopping Center Mauka from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 22.

March 17 marks the birthday of Queen Kaʻahumanu, a cherished Kuhina Nui from the island of Maui. This year, Queen Kaʻahumanu Center is celebrating with brand-new events that embrace community, culture and commerce.

Maui activities for HMSA members include opportunities for free admission to Maui Ocean Center and Kula Country Farms.

The St. Anthony School has announced a 60-minute musical rendition of Disney’s 1992 film “Aladdin” at the St. Anthony Trojan Café from Wednesday, March 6 through Friday, March 15.

The Maui Arts & Cultural Center will present a return to Maui for Rosy Simas Danse and an all-new dance performance entitled “she who lives on the road to war” at the MACC’s Castle Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21.

The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua will welcome Brother Noland for a special concert on Friday, March 1 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. He will headline the resort’s Kapalua Concert Series, taking place at Alaloa Lounge, located in the lobby overlooking Kapalua and Honokahua Bay.

Iration, a reggae-rock group formed in Isla Vista, Calif., will perform at the Alexander & Baldwin Ampitheater at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center on March 1 at 6 p.m.

Registration is open for the 13th annual Maui 5K Run and Walk, set to take place, rain or shine, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on March 3, 2024. Participants will receive medals and T-shirts honoring Lahaina.

A Mandate-Free Maui March and Rally drew thousands of participants that stretched in a walking line from War Memorial Stadium to the Kaʻahumanu Avenue intersection with Kahului Beach Road. Bystanders estimated the crowd at more than 1,000, while organizers said the event drew an estimated 3,000 individuals over the course of two hours, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The event comes on the heels of a similar march on Oʻahu on Aug. 9 that drew an estimated 10,000 participants, said Maui’s Tiare Lawrence who is among those leading the Maui event.

Monday’s march through Hāna included stops in Hāmoa, and Koali, with area residents leading the trek through their district.

The public is invited to this weekend’s midnight launch of a 193-mile torch-lit trek around the island. Chanters for the Kaʻapuni will gather at 11 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, at Mokuʻula, across from 505 Front Street in Lahaina, for a blessing and launch event.
