Regenerative Ag veteran offers tours of West Maui farms

Due to islandwide flash flooding, organizers are postponing the West Maui regenerative-farm tours that were scheduled to take place on Saturday. Jan. 28, 2023. The tours will take place on Feb. 4 and 5 instead.

Farm tour, moon calendar workshop kicks off Makahiki season, Nov. 19

A free Chang Farms tour and moon-calendar workshop unfolds from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19. The event helps to start the traditional Hawaiian Makahiki season of peace and thanksgiving. 

Poi-luscious dessert at West Maui pop-up, Saturday

The pop-up features a unique dessert incorporating the farm’s homegrown/processed paʻi ʻai (pounded, undiluted taro). Chang Farms also markets its homegrown loofah sponges and homemade soaps via Project MAHIʻAI.

For the first time, the Maui Sunday Market will offer garden-fresh produce–such as avocados, lilikoʻi (passion fruit) and herbs of basil and rosemary–from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Kahului Shopping Center parking lot.

Project MAHI‘AI Gets $58K for Native-Grown Food/Product Distribution

A Kēōkea homesteader was project manager of a $58,395 grant program funded by the state Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Theresa Hiʻilei Martinson will assume her duties Sept. 1 for the OHA-funded Project MAHIʻAI, an Amazon-style distribution system for native-grown products.
