#pukalani shelter

Pukalani fire updates: Evacuation order lifted; fire 100% contained at under 2 acres

Fire crews returned to the scene of the Pukalani fire at first light this morning to resume mop-up operations. Fire officials say the cause of yesterdayʻs fire is undetermined, but is not believed to have been intentional. The blaze burned 1.5 acres according to updated estimates.

MEO offering transports for medical needs from South Maui, Pukalani shelters

Maui Economic Opportunity buses will offer transports – at no cost to riders – for medical appointments for those impacted by the fires and sheltering at the South Maui Community Park Gymnasium and Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center in Pukalani.

VIDEO: Shelter Opens in Pukalani Following Flooding, Heavy Rain

Volunteers from the American Red Cross on Maui plan to open a shelter tonight at the Hannibal Tavares Community Center for Maui residents displaced by floods and heavy rains. The shelter will open up at 8:15 p.m. for those who had to leave their homes due to flooding, and to motorists who could not make it home due to the closed roads.
