Samaritan’s Purse dedicates new homes to Maui families impacted by Lahaina wildfire
Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief organization, dedicated three newly built homes in Lahaina for Maui families who survived the state’s deadliest wildfire in history. Each home—constructed under the guidance of local contractors and built with the hands and hearts of Samaritan’s Purse volunteers—stands as a visible reminder to these families that they are not forgotten, organization leaders said.
Wednesday Disaster Recovery Community Update Meeting, Oct. 2
The meeting will include a status report on debris clearing by the US Army Corps of Engineers, an update on the progress of the Kilohana temporary group housing site from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and a presentation from Samaritan’s Purse about its US Rebuild Program.
Reopening of all 83 Lahaina wildfire zones completed ahead of schedule
Reentry into the 83 zones established for the 2,170 acres in the five-mile Lahaina impact area concluded more than a week ahead of schedule. The process started with the first residential zone opening for reentry Sept. 25 and 26 on Kaniau Road.
