More than 20 leaders from Hawaiʻi’s agriculture and business sectors recently completed the second annual Hawaiʻi-USDA Policy Summit in Washington, D.C., highlighting local priorities and challenges directly to federal officials.
Hirono Hopes to Address Maintenance Backlog at Ag Research Facilities
The AG RESEARCH Act would provide competitive grants to schools of agriculture for altering, modernizing, renovating or remodeling research facilities and equipment. The USDA Secretary is directed to distribute the grants equitably based on geography, diversity and size of institutions.
Webinars Scheduled for Coffee Growers on Possible Fungicide Use
The University of Hawai`i’ – College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources and Hawai`i Department of Agriculture are hosting two free webinars to inform Hawai`i coffee growers on the potential use of a fungicide to combat coffee leaf rust. The webinars are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 1 and Thursday, April 8.
