Live fire training scheduled in Waikapū on Aug. 21, 22, 28 and 29
The Maui Fire Department will be conducting wildland live fire training on Aug. 21, 22, 28 and 29 as part of its 41st Recruit Class. This training will be conducted in Waikapū, across from the Maui Tropical Plantation.
Brush fire along Honoapiʻilani in Waikapū now 75% contained
Maui fire crews are responding to a brush fire reported at around 12:22 p.m. on Saturday makai of the Honoapi’ilani near the Kahili Golf Course in Waikapū. By 1:15 p.m., crews had gained 75% containment on the fire and forward progress was stopped at around 1:50 p.m. Department officials estimate the size to be around four to five acres.
Crews battling fire in Central Maui near intersection of Kuihelani and Honoapiʻilani highways
Maui fire crews are battling a brush fire near the intersection of the Kūihelani and Honoapiʻilani highways. The Maui Police Department issued a road closure notice at around 1 p.m. saying traffic on the Honoapiʻilani Highway in the Wailuku bound direction is being redirected to Kūihelani due to the fire.
Maui Live Fire Training scheduled May 1-30
The Maui Fire Department will be conducting wildland live fire training, May 1-30 (weekends excluded) as part of our ongoing incumbent training program. This training will be conducted in Waikapū, across from the Maui Tropical Plantation. Smoke associated with this training will be visible between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.

The Maui Fire Department will conduct live fire training, Oct. 3 through Nov. 2 on the Waiʻale 905 property in an area just below the Maui Tropical Plantation in Waikapū.
Two Residents Displaced from Home Fire in Waikapū, Maui
Two residents were displaced from their home following an early morning house fire in Waikapū. Both residents were transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for possible smoke inhalation.
Waikō Fire Burns 1.32 Acres of Brush and Kiawe
A Sunday afternoon brush fire near the Kūihelani Highway, Waikō Road intersection burned an estimated 1.32 acres of brush and kiawe before being brought under control.
Mop-up Underway for Three Maui Fires, Kīhei Fire Burns 270 Acres
Maui firefighters continued work today to mop up perimeter areas and fully contained a brush fire in Kihei that consumed an estimated 270 acres, the Maui Fire Department reported as of 3 p.m. Monday.
Man Arrested on Suspected Arson in 9,000 Acre Maui Fire
Maui police arrested 28-year-old Holden Bingham on Monday on suspicion of arson in connection with a fire that sparked 9,000 acres on Maui last week.
PHOTOS: Vehicle Fire in Waikapū Doused
Emergency crews are responding to a vehicle fire near Waikō Road in Waikapū. The fire has since been contained and Maui police have reopened travel to motorists in both directions. Sources tell us the roadway remains slick and motorists are advised to drive with caution in the area. A tow truck had arrived to remove the vehicle from the scene. Witnesses tell us that the drive and passengers appear to be uninjured.
UPDATE: Structure Fire in Waikapu
Maui Fire Department units were on the scene of a confirmed structure fire at Wilikona Place in Waikapu at approximately 6 p.m. tonight.
