Beginning Lauhala Weaving Class starts at Bailey House Museum

A 6-week “Beginning Lauhala Weaving” class begins today, Thursdsay, July 29, 2010 at the Bailey House Museum in Wailuku.  Participants will learn to prepare hala leaves and weave thier own lauhala project with kumu Pohaku Kaho`ohanohano, who has been teaching weaving for 17 years. 
 
The class are set for: July 29, August 5, 12, 26 and September 2 and 9 from 6pm to 8pm and is limited to 12 people.  The cost is $50 for members of the Maui Historical Society and $60 for non-members.   
 
The Maui Historical Society was founded in 1951 and is the oldest historical and preservation society on Maui.  Its mission is to Collect, Preserve, Study, Interpret and Share the History, and Heritage of Maui.   Website: www.mauimuseum.org
