This Thursday, Raku Japanese Restaurant at Makena Beach & Golf Resort is celebrating Girls Day in Maui with a special menu and honorary drink.

Girls Day or Hina Matsuri (literally, Doll Festival) is an annual tradition celebrated in Japan, honoring all the young women in the country. During this special day, families wish happiness and health to their treasured daughters, dressing hina dolls in silk kimonos so that their daughters are successfully married off into good families.

To commemorate the event, Raku will be offering a $38 menu with an appetizer trio, main entrée and dessert. Creative dishes include the Vegetable Kinchaku, scallop and vegetable wrapped in a thin egg sheet pouch, and the Chirashi Zushi comprised of unagi, tamago, snow peas, kampyo, shiitake mushroom, and snow crab mixed with sushi rice.

The $5 Girls Day Drink is the Makena Fling: Kikusui Sake, Kai Lychee vodka, Fresh Lime Juice, Simple Syrup and Ginger Ale.
