It won’t be easy, for sure.  But the Central East Maui All-Stars can still advance in the Little League West Regional in San Bernardino, Calif., despite being held hitless on Sunday in a 3-0 loss to Huntington Beach.

It will take victories in both of their remaining games – at 9 a.m. Monday against Washington, Utah, and at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday against Northern California champ Red Bluff.

Both games will be aired on Maui’s ESPN 550.

For the second straight day, Maui’s batters were overwhelmed by dominant pitchers. Central Maui managed two hits in Saturday’s opening 3-2 loss to Rio Rico of Arizona.  Rio Rico ace Angel Chavez struck out 14 before leaving one out short of a six-inning complete game after reaching the pitch limit.

On Sunday, Central Maui was no-hit by Southern California champion Huntington Beach.  The 3-0 loss dropped Maui’s record to 0-2.
