Tickets are still on sale at the MACC for CAKE, an alternative rock band from Sacramento, California who are known for their upbeat performance style and evolving music.

CAKE was originally scheduled to perform on Maui in November 2011 but caused brief, false heart attacks in CAKE lovers all over the island when it was announced that the show would be rescheduled.

The new date of the long-anticipated CAKE concert is Saturday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the MACC’s Castle Theater. As a relief, all ticket-holders for the previously scheduled concert can keep their tickets as valid for entry to the re-scheduled concert.

The five band members of CAKE are  lead singer John McCrea, trumpet player Vince DiFiore, guitarist Xan McCurdy, bassist Gabe Nelson and drummer Paulo Baldi. The band collectively formed their own label in 2007, Upbeat Records.

The band is well known for their unique and experimental composing which incorporates styles of country, rock, funk, mariachi, Iranian folk, and hip-hop in their sound.

One of CAKE’s hit singles is “The Distance,” an upbeat and distorted rock song which has been featured in other media and referenced in popular culture since 1996.

Another favorite is their attractively twisted cover of “I Will Survive” where Vince DiFiore’s signature trumpet floats above a thick funk guitar riff and John McCrea’s deadpan vocals.

CAKE will be one of the biggest alternative rock acts to play on Maui and many look forward to a night with such a dynamic band.

Tickets are $39, $49, and $89. For more ticket information, call the MACC Box Office at (808)242-7469 or go online at MauiArts.org.
