The Maui AIDS Foundation announced the addition of an HIV specialist on the island.

Dr. Timothy Duerler is teaming up with the agency to offer medical care services by appointment every Thursday at the facility in Wailuku, located at 1935 Main Street, Suite 101.

The move is part of the agency’s commitment to improve client health and reduce the chances of transmission. Officials say the new service also gives those living with HIV and AIDS on Maui greater alternatives when reviewing their options for treatment.

“Prevention and care work together in a symbiotic relationship. We are able to counsel clients and connect them to medical care within minutes following diagnosis,” said John Gilarski, MAF Director of Client Services.

Dr. Duerler accepts ALL patients with HMSA, Medicare, MedQuest and those who are under-insured or uninsured.  VA and Kaiser Permanente are not covered under the service.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Duerler, call Mango Medical at 808-769-5010.
