Kihei’s William Schefer won the open division of the 2013 Kahakuloa Coast Run and Relay, Saturday, June 1, in 1 hour, 19 minutes and 33 seconds.

Schefer finished ahead of 59 other individuals and relay runners in the second annual 13.1-mile race from Kapalua to Kahakuloa.

The men’s relay team winner, led by Brad Bickley, was second overall in 1:24.36, followed by third-place finisher Derek Gomez of Lexington, KY. Honolulu’s Thomas Gouard was fourth in 1:38.06, followed by the first female finisher Katie O’Neil of Honolulu in 1:38.49.

Eri McDonald led the first female relay team to a seventh place overall finish in 1:42.13.
