Haʻikū Fire Burns Area of Brush and Rubbish

Maui fire fighters worked overnight to douse a fire in Haʻikū that burned about a third-of-an-acre of brush and rubbish, official said.

The fire was reported at 1:09 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013, in an area off of Hahana Road, according to a fire department incident report.

The fire was brought under control by 1:41 a.m., and extinguished at 3:08 a.m., officials said.

No damages or injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation.

Crews responding to the scene reportedly included fire fighters from Pāʻia and Makawao, and tanker personnel from Kahului.
