Kapalua Bay Repositioning Planned Under New Management

The Residences at Kapalua Bay will undergo a multi-million dollar improvement program this fall according to an announcement issued by its new management company, Montage Hotels & Resorts.

As part of the improvement program, company officials say plans include offering 56 Montage branded residences for sale, and the introduction a 50-room “all-suite” Montage Hotel.

Montage took over management on Thursday, announcing a name change for the property to Montage Kapalua Bay, and inclusion of the property in the company’s luxury hotel collection.

In addition to the Maui property, Montage also manages luxury properties in Laguna Beach, Beverly Hills and Deer Valley.

“We are passionate about capturing the unique sense of spirit and place of the destinations in which we operate,” said Alan Fuerstman, Montage Hotels & Resorts founder and CEO in a press release.

He continued, “The aloha spirit of Maui and the graciousness of the Hawaiian people are the perfect complement to Montage’s style of service, making this resort an ideal addition to our portfolio. Guests looking for authenticity and a sense of discovery within a luxury setting will find it here.”

The Dallas-based Lantern Asset Management, appointed Montage Hotels & Resorts to manage the property, on behalf of the resort’s ownership group, the announcement said.

LAM president, And Mitchell also commented saying, “We are confident that the exceptional hospitality and gracious service for which Montage is known, in combination with the unparalleled facilities and amenities of our property, will have tremendous appeal to those who enjoy the best of island living.”

According to the announcement, the property will continue to operate as The Residences at Kapalua Bay on a interim basis, while the improvement program is being completed.
