The funds raised provide services each year in critical community need areas to Maui County residents.

During last year’s campaign, Maui United Way raised a total of $1.03 million through contributions from various organizations throughout the year.

“Ameron Hawaiʻi has once again shown their generosity and overwhelming support for their community this campaign year” said Laksmi Abraham, President of Maui United Way in an organization press release. “MUW is overwhelmingly grateful for the caring support of Ameron employees, as each contribution is vital in providing for those in need, here on Maui,” she said.

Nikki Battad, human resources manager at Ameron Hawaiʻi, also commented noting that the contribution included both employee donations and corporate contributions.  “Maui employees truly give from the heart. Even in tough economic times, they give generously. Each campaign year we are confident that our employees will give what they can, but we find that they always give more because they know that the importance of giving directly supports their families and community,” she said.

According to information compiled by Maui United Way, the annual campaign receives contributions from an estimated 300 businesses.

According to MUW’s Annual Report to Donors, contributions last year made an impact in the community by providing awareness to 13,901 of the risks and dangers of meth use; distributing essential food boxes to 11,173 people to sustain and improve their physical and emotional health; and providing shelter and safety to some 250 women and children who were in a program for victims of domestic violence.
