The Kiwanis Club of Kahului sponsors its 10th annual “Shop With a Cop” event on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 6 a.m. at Kmart in Kahului.
Thirty-five kids in need will be paired up with police officers to select $100 worth of toys and gifts each as part of the annual shopping spree event.
The “Shop With a Cop” event is conducted in partnership with the Maui Police Department, Kmart, and the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center.
Participating children were identified by the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center, which works to help abused and neglected children in Maui County.
Santa will also be on hand to share some holiday cheer with the participating kids.
“Shop With a Cop is one of my favorites events of the year,” says Kiwanis Club of Kahului member Bruce McDonald in an organization press release. “Our club is honored to sponsor this special program each year – I cherish being able to help such a fragile population right here in our own community,” he said.
The Kiwanis Club of Kahului was founded in 1959 and is comprised of a group of individuals dedicated to serving the youth in the community.
