Haʻikū trash route missed. Maui Now graphic.

Residents in some areas of Haʻikū on Maui did not have their trashed picked up as scheduled on Friday, Dec. 5, due to a staffing shortage, county officials announced.

The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, announced that the missed collection affected the following areas:

  • West Kuiaha Road; Kaupakalua Road; Ulumalu Road; North Holokai Road; and Haʻikū Road.

Department officials say they expect to have the missed routes picked up on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014.

The department apologized for the inconvenience and thanked the community for their understanding and cooperation.
