Arrest Made in Home Depot Parking Lot Robbery

Maui Police have since arrested a man in connection with a robbery reported at the parking lot of the Home Depot store in Kahului last month.

Kingston Cayaban, 27, of Haʻikū was arrested and charged with first degree robbery, second degree assault, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, and kidnapping.

The charges stem from a robbery reported at around 8:03 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014.

Police say the victim was parked within the Home Depot parking lot when a male suspect, later identified as Cayaban, entered his vehicle brandishing a knife and demanded his property.

According to police reports, the victim accelerated his vehicle and collided into a barricade.

Police say the suspect exited the vehicle following the crash and fled the scene.

The victim, police say, sustained minor injuries.

Police say a 21-year-old woman, also of Haʻikū was arrested in connection with the case, but was released pending review by the Prosecutor’s Office.

At last report, Cayaban was being held in lieu of $46,000 bail.
