Molokaʻi Flood Advisory:

The Flood Advisory for the island of Molokaʻi has since been CANCELLED as of 9:39 a.m. on Wed. April 24, 2013.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for the island of Molokaʻi until 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24.

Forecasters from the NWS say radar at around 8 a.m. showed heavy rain near the Molokai Airport, that was moving east at about 10 mph.

A similar advisory for Oahu has since been cancelled.

The NWS advisory includes the areas of Kualapuʻu, Kepuhi, Kalaupapa, Hoʻolehua, and Halawa Valley.

Motorists are advised of reduced visibility and poor braking action due to ponding of water on the roadways.

The public is reminded not to cross fast flowing or rising water.

The advisory may need to be extended if heavy rain persists.

Special Marine Warning, Pailolo Channel & Maui Leeward Waters:

A special marine warning was also issued for Maui County leeward waters and the Pailolo Channel until 9 a.m.

According to the NWS, radar at 8:15 a.m. showed a thunderstorm producing “severe hail” and winds blowing at 34 knots or greater.

The system was located about 5 nautical miles southwest of Kaunakakai Wharf, and was moving southeast at 10 knots.
