The Construction Industry of Maui awarded three Maui County high school graduates each a $20,000 scholarship to encourage education toward a construction industry career.

Upcountry Maui’s rising football standout, Eli Kamakani Caires, put his talent on full display this past weekend on Oʻahu, capturing the field goal kicking competition title at the prestigious Chris Sailer Kicking Training Camp held at Castle High School.

Seven Rotary Clubs on Maui presented a $5,000 Hawaiʻi Rotary Youth Foundation scholarship to outstanding graduating seniors. Each club conducted interviews with multiple candidates and chose one recipient for the award.

The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation, Inc. has named 10 high school seniors from Maui County as scholarship recipients in its annual Legacy Scholarship Program, winning $37,000 in scholarships.

Twenty-three residents were honored today as 2026 Volunteer Heroes for their contributions to community nonprofit organizations, as Mayor Richard Bissen proclaimed Volunteer Week from April 19-25, 2026, in Maui County.

Four Maui students are among the regional winners of the 63rd Annual Hawaiʻi Regional Scholastic Art Awards, securing recognition for creative works ranging from sculpture to mixed media painting.

The Upcountry Maui Rotary Club has announced its Students of the Month for December, recognizing two high school seniors for academic achievements, leadership and community service.

Starting with the 2026-27 school year, Kamehameha preschools and K–12 campuses will no longer require tuition. The announcement was made in a message from the Board of Trustees and CEO of Kamehameha Schools.

To date, the program has awarded more than $81,000 in scholarships to Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i students who have displayed a passion for returning to Maui County after college to contribute to the community.

The Warriors are taking the “college bowl” approach, spending the four weeks before the state tournament studying film, lifting weights and getting healthy before they play a semifinal game in the state tournament on Nov. 22.

Lahainaluna saw its remarkable Maui Interscholastic League record of 17 straight trips to state football tournaments come to an end with Saturday’s result.

The Warriors rolled to a 27-7 win over Lahainaluna on Friday night at Kana‘iaupuni Stadium to clinch another trip to state with a 3-0 record in the second round of Maui Interscholastic League play — they were already the first-round champions in Division II with a 4-0 record.
