The first of two informational outreach meetings on the county’s Plastic Bag Ordinance will be held this afternoon.  The measure is set to go into effect on January 11, 2011, banning single-use checkout bags from stores.  The county currently uses an estimated 50 million of them each year.  Today’s meeting begins at 3 p.m. at the Wailuku Community Center.  A second meeting is set for March 11 at 3 p.m. at the West Maui Community Center.
