American Savings Bank Blesses New Kihei Branch
By Sonia Isotov
Today, top executives from American Savings Bank were on-hand for the opening of the new Kihei Branch at the Piilani Village Shopping Center.
Festivities included an early morning ‘Maile lei cutting ceremony, with several local leaders in attendance, including Maui County Councilman Don Couch and Maui Economic Development Board, Inc. President Jeanne Skog.
Community members may be expressing disappointment that they will miss the convenience of the bank’s former location at the Kihei Longs Drug Center.
But American Savings Bank President Richard Whacker, who traveled from Honolulu for the event, said, “The move made sense for us strategically. We needed to update the interior of the branch, and moving to a new location at the same time just made sense for us. As you can see, it’s really nice in here.”
American Bank Savings staff and from around the island and state gathered to celebrate the new branch, including K. Elizabeth Whitehead, Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel.
“We are very excited about our new location and want the community to celebrate with us. We’ve got a brand new flat screen drawing going on and hope the community will come in and enter and have a look at the new bank at the same time.”
American Savings Bank took over the space formerly used by Nevada Bob’s Golf at the Piilani Village Shopping Center at 255 Piikea Avenue, Building 4.
All the same services include the ATM are still available at the new location.
Bank hours at the new location are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
