The County of Maui and the Maui Vacation Rental Association are co-hosting a workshop on the new short-term rental home permits on October 29 at the Paia Community Center.

Maui County recently passed a new permitting process for short-term vacation rental homes. This permit is for properties with single family homes and does not apply to condominium units. There are incentives for applying before the end of 2012.

At this workshop, Gina Flammer from the Department of Planning will go over the short-term rental home permit requirements and application process. The incentives for applying before the end of the year will be detailed, and the department’s new home safety inspection form will also be introduced and reviewed.

The workshop will be held on Monday, Oct. 29 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Paia Community Center at 252 Hana Highway in Paia.
